Mending Broken Pieces, Inc. (MBP): Mobile Resources & Programs

Why Mobile Resources and Programming?

Mobile resources and programming are the cornerstone of Mending Broken Pieces, (MBP). MBP is an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, located in the Atlanta metro area, which provides mobile resources and programs for at-risk and homeless youth (high school students), young adults, and unaccompanied minors. By providing resources that help homeless students aged 14-21 stay in school, get back into school, or enroll in a GED program could help them fulfill their dreams.

One of the most significant challenges in addressing the needs of homeless youth is simply identifying them. Homeless students often live in unstable conditions. By providing mobile resources, such as a comprehensive Community Resources Directory for homeless youth aged 14-21. And dedicated pages of high school and post-secondary education resources we bring the help directly to them.

Additionally, we offer useful apps and programs that are available 24/7. These mobile resources offer an additional way to connect with and identify them.

Furthermore, we can expedite their re-housing and stability process, whether they live in rural, suburban, or urban areas. By centralizing these resources, we bridge the gap for those who might otherwise fall through the cracks, ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed.

Why Mobile Services for Homelessness Youth in Metro Atlanta?

ย Nearly 2% of the 631,274 public school students in the five-county metro [Atlanta] area are living on the streets, in shelters or extended-stay. Additionally, they live in motels, doubled up with other families, or couch-surfing says Georgia Department of Education data compiled by Neighborhood Nexus. โ€œIt makes it a whole lot harder โ€” nigh impossible โ€” for a child to be able to learn at school,โ€ …. โ€œThe issues that we face in our community flow from the lack of resources. When you donโ€™t have a regular place to sleep. . . [Therefore], when you donโ€™t have good food to eat, when you donโ€™t have your healthcare taken care of.ย  You are unable to grow as a human being and fulfill your needs and make good decisions and set yourself up for success.” Monica Johnson, the nonprofit Housing Justice League. When homeless students are not identified, they miss out on critical educational protections and services. These services can stabilize their education and lives. Without them, students are more likely to remain out of school and underserved.
