LGBTQ Programs and Services
Since 1981, CHRIS 180 has been dedicated to healing children, strengthening families and building communities. That work has always been underscored by our belief in acceptance and equity, that everyone deserves the support needed to change the direction of their lives. CHRIS 180 is the first and largest nonprofit organization in Georgia to openly celebrate and serve LGBTQ+ youth. Serves teens and young adults ages 17-21.
The purpose of the Georgia Safe Schools Coalition (GSSC, Inc.) is to eliminate LGBTQ oppression in Georgia schools. We educate and advocate on issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning students and families. GSSC works to address the intersections among various systems of oppression, understanding that one cannot eradicate transprejudice and heterosexism without simultaneously working to end all forms of injustice. By serving as a resource for Georgia students, educators, and families, we strive to engender positive social growth among Georgia’s youth and to foster a safe and affirming school climate for all. GSSC was founded in 2009.
PFLAG Atlanta promotes the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, their families, and friends through support, education, and advocacy.
Our major support activities include three facilitated monthly support groups. We provide education to enlighten the public through a Speakers Bureau and participation in Atlanta Pride. In partnership with national and local organizations we advocate to secure equal rights the LGBTQ community.
PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
PFLAG Atlanta welcomes the participation and support of all who share in and hope to realize this vision.
