Programs:
The Morning Sandwich and Snack Ministry: provides a basic breakfast of sandwiches, snacks, water and a cup of coffee to those in need.ย  Our guests are served from the Parish Hall, at the MLK entrance, each weekday from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
Night Shelter:ย

Each year from November 1 to March 31, The Shrine ministers to a small portion of the homeless along with numerous organizations and churches by being a part of theย Bashor Night Shelter. The Shrine hosts 30-35 of the 100+ guests and by providing sack lunches, dinner, and overnight assistance for approximately 30 of the 150 nights.

Our signup each season begins in September with several Sign-up Sundays held after the Masses. If you want to check out our schedule, click theย Shrine Night Shelter Schedule on the website.

Foot Care Night:

Shelter Footcare is an opportunity to be with guests at our Shelter and respond to the Gospel’s call to be in the company of and serve the poor. This very rewarding experience is available on Wednesday nights, November 1 through March 31. Some required training is provided so that volunteers can take care of guest’s weary feet.

St. Francis Table:

The guests are invited in at 10:00 AM. They enter through the door located on the Martin Luther King Boulevard side of the Shrine.ย  They each receive a meat and cheese sandwich, bowl, cup, spoon and napkin.ย  Once the guests are seated, the volunteers serve the soup from large pitchers.ย  Each person is fed until they have their fill and then they leave through the door on the parking lot side of the church.ย  As each guest leaves, they are given desserts.ย  After each group of guests leaves, the next group is let in. The kitchen stays open and serves soup and sandwiches until 12:00 noon when clean up begins.
