If you want to talk to someone about the violence in your life or in the life of someone youย know, please call Georgiaโ€™s 24-Hour Statewide Domestic Violence Hotline, 1.800.33.HAVENย (1.800.334.2836) V/TTY.ย As a friend or family member of someone experiencing domestic violence,ย it is important to be there for them and let them know that the abuse is not their fault.

A domestic violence advocate can talk to victims, friends and family to plan for safety.ย ย Theyย may be able to offerย resources in your communityย or give you or your family support.ย  Domesticย violence programs offer victims and their families a variety of services in the community and are hereย to support you 24 hours a day.

Warmlines
Description

 

A warm line is an alternative to a crisis line that is run by โ€œpeers,โ€ generally those who have had their own experiences of trauma that they are willing to speak of and acknowledge.

Unlike a hotline for those in immediate crisis, warmlines provide early intervention with emotional support that can prevent a crisis. The lines are typically free, confidential peer-support services staffed by those who have experienced mental health conditions themselves. We strive to meet the immediate and long-term needs of the diverse community of battered women and their children with programs that promote safety, compassion, connection, advocacy, and prevention.

At Women’s Resource Center, you will find advocates who will listen to your experiences without judgement and who will offer you options and support while you make choices for yourself and your family. WRCย is an LGBTQ+ affirming agency and services are provided to all people inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

The DeKalb County Superior Courthouse is closed to the general public. Temporary Protective Orders can still be filed electronically. If you need to file a protective order, please call us at (404) 370-7670 to speak with a legal advocate. Forms can be found here:ย http://dksuperiorclerk.com/tpo/ on the website.
